JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Responsible for performing lead paraprofessional accounting and/or budgetanalysis/management duties.This is a lead, paraprofessional classification responsible for preparing and inputting financial data; preparing, processing and verifying financial information; compiling financial reports; and coordinating financial programs.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the District’s needs.

• Receives and processes a variety of transactions, forms, data, fixed assets, and/or information in assigned area of responsibility; researches and resolves discrepancies and/or erroneous information;

• Verifies, monitors, analyzes and reconciles financial information for an assigned area. Performs journal entries for the purpose of classifying expenses, revenues, assets, and/or liabilities;

• Creates, reviews, analyzes, interprets, and maintains a variety of records, systems and logs;

• Performs routine office activities, which may include: making copies; filing; sorting, opening, and distributing mail; entering information into a database; faxing documents; and, performing other related activities;

• Assists in interpreting and applying policies, procedures, laws and regulations;

• Assists customers, vendors, and employees with requests for information over the phone and in person; researches and resolves discrepancies and/or erroneous data;

• Prepares a variety of reports and/or statistical data with information obtained from databases and/or spreadsheets; and,

• Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (for new hires at job entry) 

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or directly related field and three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of directly-related education and experience.

Required Certifications/Licenses:

• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC). 

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES 

• Prepares reports summarizing various expenditure category histories;

• Communicates and settles discrepancies between vendors and the District;

• Communicates the status of transactions with schools and departments;

• Audits invoices for payment;

• Posts journal entries in automated accounting system, prepares associated Treasurer Transfers as needed;

• Prepares cash and check deposits with County Treasurer’s Office;

• Researches, processes and records accounts receivable;

• Prepares monthly State and Federal reporting for State and Federal projects including cash management and completion reports;

• Maintains and reconciles the District’s bank accounts;

• Administers extra-curricular tax credit donations including tracking, reconciling and state reporting; and,

• Performs related work as assigned.
