Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is hiring a residential faculty in Nursing whose role beginning in May 2024 will be to assume the role of the Nursing Director of the Division. The Nursing Director also serves as Division/Department Chair and Program Director for Nursing and is a full-time nursing faculty member. This position will initially serve in a leadership role, representing the department to meet program accreditation and institutional organization requirements, and provide program coordination, direction of faculty and staff, and collaboration with district nursing and college administration. The Nursing Director role at SCC is elected every three years; this position will be to complete the current term, ending in summer 2025. The Nursing Director has full reassign time.

All nursing faculty positions provide clinical, lab and classroom instruction to nursing students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures throughout the nursing program curriculum covering nursing concepts in the curriculum across the life span. Uses traditional, nontraditional and innovative methods of instruction, including the use of technology, uses effective interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills while teaching in an integrated curriculum demonstrates commitment to student academic success. Contributes to college governance by serving on college and/or district committees.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

Essential Functions

Instruction & Leadership: Initially serves in a leadership position representing the department to meet program accreditation and institutional organization requirements. Must meet the requirements of all nursing faculty.

Course/Program Coordination: Provides program coordination and direction of faculty and staff, and oversees systematic plan of evaluation and program development and/or revision.

Committees: Serves on college and/or district committees as the faculty and/or program leader. Will serve on college and district committees initially as the Nursing Director.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree plus a minimum of 3 years work experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a BSN and a graduate degree and 2 years work experience as a professional nurse and 2 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care.

2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license or multi-state license in good standing.

3. Meet all health and safety requirements to include: immunizations, titers, negative TB status, urine drug screen; pass a background clearance check; obtain CPR certification for health care providers, obtain a level one fingerprint clearance card.

Desired Qualifications

A. Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree or higher

B. Experience working with accreditation principles and regulatory concepts of nursing programs

C. Experience with assessing and evaluating program outcomes

D. Experience with the use of technology including classroom applications, clinical simulations and/or distance learning.

E. Experience with curriculum development and a variety of teaching strategies

Special Working Conditions

• Will be required to travel or be assigned to other MCCCD locations.

• May be required to work evenings and weekends.

• May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.

• May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

• This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college.

• May be exposed to hazardous chemicals

• Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.

• May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends

• Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required

• Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious diseases

• Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters

• This position is scheduled to start for training purposes prior to the May 11, 2024 start as Director per ACEN Accreditation requirements.
