Job Description:

Job Goal:
Responsible for assisting gifted students in developing academic skills by using effective strategies for the gifted learner 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare Gifted Educational Plans for each student based on area of giftedness
  2.  Regularly meet with parents and student to discuss learning goals
  3. Develop lessons aligned with the learning goals of the individual students enrolled in the class
  4. Monitor the overall progress made by gifted students and assist teachers in meeting learning goals as outlined in the GEP
  5. Identify varying teaching styles and instructional strategies for gifted and talented students to meet their diverse needs
  6. Design differentiated learning experiences for gifted and talented students. Implement research-based strategies for teaching critical thinking in the classroom
  7. Continue personal and professional development through involvement in professional organizations and by attending and presenting at professional conferences, conducting colleague visits, facilitating school visitation, writing for publication, and engaging in professional reading
  8. Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as may be suggested by the site administrator
  9. Obtain and maintain gifted endorsement

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Valid and Appropriate Arizona Teacher Certificate
  3. Gifted Endorsement (or ability to obtain)
  4. Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  5. A minimum of (3) years of successful K-8 teaching experience including working with gifted students
  6. Experience working with linguistically, ethnically, and academically diverse students
  7. Possesses strong literacy and numeracy skills
  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently
  9. Effective organization and time management skills
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  11. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with staff and community
  12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Salary:

Per Board Approved Certified Starting Salary Guide
Gifted Endorsement Stipend: $1,000
Prop 301 Performance Pay: up to $5,000

4 Day School Week
