Job Description:
anque Verde Unified School District has an expected opening for a Lead Maintenance Coordinator. The LMC ensures the school site is safe and clean; provides oversight of others in maintaining school grounds and buildings. Inspects, maintains and repairs mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment for planned maintenance.
This position typically reports to the Director of Operations. The school Principal may also have a line of authority to this position. Working conditions may include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, dirty environment, air contamination, extreme temperatures, intense noise, hazardous material, lifts and carries heavy objects.
Example of Duties:
- Assists the Director of Operations with work orders requiring facilities repair, cleaning, or major project work.
- Maintains proper communication with the Director of Operations, building Principal, and other employees hired to tend to school facilities and grounds.
- Assists the Director of Operations with maintaining appropriate preventive maintenance protocol for school equipment, building, and other facility related items.
- Assigns training and maintains training records for maintenance personnel and ensures safety practices are followed.
- Performs scheduled visual inspections of indicated equipment in buildings.
- Inspects and notes quality, records all corrective action required for planned and preventive maintenance.
- Conducts spot checks on serviced equipment to verify work completion.
- Initiates work orders for repair/maintenance and works with other maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of repair and maintenance tasks.
- Assigns jobs to specific personnel and provides coordination among maintenance functions.
- Prepares and issues emergency maintenance instructions to appropriate staff.
- Coordinates the physical preparation for concerts, dances, registration and other special events held in the school buildings or in the district office.
- Inventories and tags newly added and replacement equipment.
- Inspects newly installed equipment for compliance and adherence to plans and specifications.
- Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Keeps supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school / workplace matters.
- Demonstrates support of the school system and its goals and priorities.
- Locks and unlocks doors as directed, secures rooms upon completion of work.
- Moves, assembles and repairs furniture, equipment or fixtures as required.
- Provides building security, as required.
- May be asked to assist with custodial functions such as cleaning, emptying trash receptacles, restocking paper goods and soaps/cleaners.
- May perform outside grounds duties as required, which may include cutting lawns; pruning shrubs and trees; planting grass, flowers, trees and shrubs; watering lawns; maintaining sprinkler system; repairing fence, gates, walls and walkways; cleaning drainage ditches and culverts; and sharpening and repairing tools.
- May perform outside and inside painting on buildings, structures and facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques and standards.
- Skill in coordinating the activities of subordinates.
- Skill in using cleaning products and equipment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of supervisory experience; OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training approved by the district.
