Join TUSD as a Strategic HR Leader!

Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is seeking an exceptional, high-energy leader to take the reins of our core Human Resources Operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Capital Officer, you will manage a vital team overseeing the entire employee lifecycle—from attraction and onboarding to compensation, records, and substitute services.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Human Capital Officer, this leader will manage a team responsible for hiring, onboarding, compensation, employee records, substitute services, and HR operations. The ideal candidate is a creative, adaptable leader with strong communication skills, experience in organizational planning and policy implementation, and a passion for fostering a positive work environment. This role is critical to attracting, developing, and retaining a high-quality workforce dedicated to serving TUSD's students and families.

Chief Human Capital Officer

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.

     or

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  Consideration will be given to applicants who explicity confirm possession of the following preferred qualifications in their resume or application.

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR or similar Human Resources certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Three years of experience in a public school district or similar public organization (e.g., government).
  • Two years of experience using one or more of the district's specific HRIS products (specifically, Infinite Visions, SpringSchool/TalentEd, Red Rover, Frontline).

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS

  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
  • Experience in working with diverse constituencies/populations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

  • FBI fingerprint background check.
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
  • MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.

  • EFFECTIVE: 2025-2026 School Year
  • LOCATION: Human Resources - Broadway and Park Area
  • FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
  • WORK CALENDAR: 12 month
  • START DATE: ASAP
