QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona Special Education Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsement.
- Certified in Special Education.
- Knowledge of the unique academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities.
- Knowledge of structured teaching methods, behavior intervention strategies, and individualized supports.
- Experience developing and implementing individualized instruction aligned to student IEP goals across academic, behavioral, and functional domains, ensuring access to grade-level standards to the extent appropriate for each student.
- Ability to assess student needs, develop and implement IEPs, and monitor progress in a self-contained setting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and general education staff.
- Strong communication, organization, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide direct, structured instruction aligned to IEP goals in academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional/life skills, ensuring access to Arizona grade-level standards to the extent appropriate for each student.
- Conduct appropriate academic evaluations and develop, implement, and monitor academic and behavioral IEPs, including ongoing data collection and analysis to inform instruction and measure progress.
- Create and maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes safety, engagement, and independence.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop/implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) using positive behavior supports.
- Adapt curriculum and materials to meet diverse learning needs and support access to grade-level standards as appropriate.
- Supervise and direct paraprofessionals, including oversight of personal care routines such as toileting and diapering, and provide assistance with these tasks as needed.
- Support student personal care needs (e.g., toileting, diapering, hygiene, feeding) in accordance with district procedures, ensuring student dignity and safety.
- Collaborate with related service providers, general education staff, and other school personnel to support student needs, interventions, accommodations, and inclusion opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including progress monitoring and service logs.
- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians about student progress, needs, and the school program, including conferences as appropriate or required.
- Participate in all District or school required trainings and department meetings, and plan or conduct trainings or meetings as requested.
- Participate in MET processes, IEP meetings, and required special education trainings.
- Provide performance evaluation input regarding special education instructional assistant(s) to school administrator.
- Perform other duties or related tasks as assigned by the building principal, Director of Student Services, or administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, which may include assisting students with mobility, positioning, and personal care needs as required.
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: A valid Arizona Department of Education Certification / Endorsement consistent with assignment and a valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

About the Community of Bagdad:
The town of Bagdad is located in the high desert of central Arizona approximately 100 miles northwest of Phoenix / 60 miles west of Prescott.
The town has had a direct relationship to local mining operations which have been ongoing since 1882 when the first claims were staked. The Townsite (http://bagdadaztown.com) and the Bagdad copper/molybdenum mine are owned by Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold.
